Whitewater Police Chief Says Sirens Should Have Been Activated During Storm

In an update from the Whitewater Police Department, Chief Dan Meyer noted that yesterday the department received many questions of why the tornado sirens were not activated during the storm. The department is responsible for activating sirens manually. Police are in the process of reviewing this incident, as the sirens should have been activated. The department will be addressing the issue by ensuring their policy is updated to more clearly indicate when the sirens need to be activated to reduce any ambiguity.
