There are multiple candidates who have applied for Common Council and School Board in Whitewater. According to the Whitewater Banner, incumbent candidates for Aldermanic District’s 1 and 3 will run unopposed, while Neil Hicks will challenge the incumbent Greg Majkrzak III in Aldermanic district 5. Patrick Singer has announced he will not seek reelection for the councilmember at large, Daniel Machalik and Lisa Dawsey Smith are seeking his seat. Five individuals have also filed for one of the two open positions in the Whitewater Unified School District, as Kelly Davis has announced no intention to run for reelection. There will be a primary on February 16, where the top four candidates advance to the April 6 election. Only two candidates per vote. There are no city positions on the February ballot, but the banner reports that there may be a contest for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
