According to a press release from the School District of Beloit, a new program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture will give youth in Waukesha, Rock, and Kenosha counties the chance to work with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension to explore post high school educational and work opportunities. The USDA’s Children, Youth, and Families at Risk program awarded $640 thousand to the UW-Madison Division of Extension and North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University to launch the program “Nia: Pathways and Purpose for the Future.” The press release stated that McNeel Intermediate School is excited to partner with the University of Wisconsin - Madison Division of Extension on this grant. The program is intended to ensure that students, especially minority students, are aware of their future educational and career opportunities through field trips, staff and mentor-led discussions, experiential learning, and special events.
