At last week's Whitewater Common Council meeting, the arboretum development in Starin park was discussed during the Urban Forestry report. The development has already received accreditation, and the project will include QR codes on signs within the park for park attendees to learn about trees. The urban forestry commission is applying for a $25 thousand grant from the DNR, and they are also asking the city for staff and equipment to assist in further development, including tree planting. More information on this project will be given as it is made available.
