Upcoming Closure of South Main Street Bridge in Jefferson

According to an update from the City of Jefferson, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will close the South Main Street Bridge on Monday, October 17 for complete reconstruction. Construction will continue through the winter and is currently scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2023. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation detour will route traffic around Jefferson using the Highway 26 bypass and the intersection of South Main Street and West Riverview Drive will be closed. The local detour will route traffic to Collins Road and Wisconsin Drive. The intersection of Wisconsin Drive and Collins Road will be a four way stop and north bound traffic on Wisconsin Drive at Racine Street will be right turn only to minimize traffic backup on Wisconsin Drive. This will be a major traffic interruptions during the ten months of construction, so drivers are asked to plan ahead.
