According to an update from the City of Janesville, the Bellrichard Bridge will close to all traffic beginning July 7 and remain closed through approximately July 15 for bridge deck maintenance work. South Crosby Avenue and South Willard Avenue will close between Rockport Road and West State Street. The City will post a detour for through traffic utilizing Rockport Road, Center Avenue, and West State Street. Through traffic must follow the detour. No traffic will be allowed on the bridge at any time. Rockport Park and the ramps to Afton Road will remain accessible from Rockport Road. Residents will have access to their homes throughout the closure.
The maintenance work will include:
The repair of the concrete parapet wall.
The filling cracks on the bridge deck.
The placement of a thin polymer overlay across the entire surface of the bridge deck.
