Three Shootings Over The Weekend In Beloit Kill 1, Injure Several

UPDATE: Chief Andre Sayles said during a press conference Monday morning that the person killed was a 20-year-old. Their identity was not provided. Beloit Police responded to six shots fired calls over the weekend.

It was a difficult weekend in Beloit, as police investigate three shootings, one which resulted in a death.

Friday night just after 9:15, police were called to the 1800 block of Fayette Avenue where they discovered a person hit multiple times by gun fire. Officers administered necessary first aid until the victim could be transported by EMS to a local hospital where the male subject died. Police are investigating this as a homicide.

A little under two hours later, police also received a shots fired call on Woodward Avenue. Two people, a 25-year-old female and a 30-year-old female, suffered non life-threatening injuries. It is believed these incidents are related, and if you have any information you are asked to call 608-364-6801.

One night later, police responded to another shooting, around 7:30 PM in the 1600 block of Dewey Avenue. One person suffered non life-threatening injuries in that shooting. There was a police pursuit following that shooting and three people were arrested. Police found evidence of a shooting in the vehicle. Raymond Goshen, 21, Steven A. Brock, 23, Garrett X. Roacham, 23 and Tarius L. Armstrong, 19 were charged as a result. A fifth person fled the scene.

“The gun violence that our city has experienced in the past 24 hours is horrific and inexcusable… Our officers and detectives are actively working to bring these dangerous perpetrators to justice. The senseless violence needs to end today” Chief Andre Sayles said in a statement.

Beloit Police will hold a press conference at 11:30 AM Monday on the first floor of City Hall. Face Coverings are required.
