According to a press release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, the water level for the Rock River is at 6.43 feet. County Ordinance allows for an abeyance of the slow-no-wake speed restriction on the portion of the Rock River downstream from the Indianford Dam to the W B R Townline Road Bridge when water levels are 6.50 feet or more. Deputies will begin removing slow-no-wake signs along the Rock River at all public access points between the Indianford Dam and the W B R Townline Road Bridge. However, a slow-no-wake speed restriction will be put in effect on the Rock River from the West Highway 14 Bridge to the West Centerway Street Dam on July 4 from 5 p.m. to midnight. This area of the Rock River becomes very chaotic and dangerous due to the large number of boats on the Rock River for the 4th of July fireworks celebration. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Natural Resources Boat Patrol units will be on the water on July 4 and will enforce safety violations, including the slow-no-wake ordinance. Deputies will place slow-no-wake signs along the river at all public access points between the West Highway 14 Bridge and the West Centerway Street Dam on the morning of July 4.
