According to a Rock County press release, outdoor siren testing will occur tomorrow at 12:05 p.m. Siren testing will be done from April-October on the first Wednesday of the month. If there is a threat of severe weather, testing will be postponed until the following Wednesday. During a test, sirens will sound for 1-3 minutes. In the event of an actual tornado warning, the sirens sound for about 5 minutes. If citizens find that the sirens in their area are not working properly, they should call the Rock County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Bureau at 608-758-8440. The sirens are only intended to be heard outdoors, and citizens should not expect to hear sirens indoors. Outdoor warning sirens should not be relied upon as the primary means of severe weather notification.
