According to an update from the City of Lake Mills, due to the recent sewer main break on Ferry Drive, Bartel’s Beach is going to be closed until further notice. Water quality levels will be tested, and the beach will be opened when the sewage main is repaired and it is safe to do so.
The Lake Mills Department of Public Works says that the small spill occurred within the street, and the public was never in danger of contact. Utility employees took actions to stop the leak, and cleaned up the spill by 1:30 a.m. this morning. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been notified that the sewage spill is estimated at less than 150 gallons.
