School District of Janesville Board of Education Approves Preliminary 2022/2023 Budget

At the recent School District of Janesville Board of Education meeting, they approved a preliminary budget for 2022-2023. The preliminary operating budget is $134.9 million for the upcoming school year. Additionally, the district’s overall levy is expected to increase by $2.1 million.

As the District moves through the budget development process, even with a fiscal year start of July 1, there are a number some key factors that remain undefined, such as:

1. September Third Friday membership count

2. The application of ESSER III funding

3. September Open Enrollment determinations

4. Janesville International Exchange Program revenues

5. October release of the District’s final General Equalization Aid amount

6. October release of the District’s Equalized Property Values
