Earlier today in a press conference, the Rock County Sheriff's Office shared the identity of an individual whose skeletal remains were found in a wooded area along Turtle Creek in Bradford Township in November of 1995. When the remains were initially discovered in 1995, several investigatory leads had been followed but the identity of the skeletal remains could not be determined.
In 2018, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office contacted the DNA Doe Project for assistance
in the identification of the skeletal remains. As a result of the work of the DNA Doe Project,
crucial leads to the identity of the skeletal remains were provided. These results led the sheriff’s office to contact the University of North Texas; Center for Human Identification for assistance.
In May of 2021, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and the Rock and Dane County Medical
Examiner’s Offices were able to provide the necessary samples to the University of North
Texas for additional DNA testing. On May 25, 2022 the Rock County Sheriff’s Office
received notification of the DNA testing results from the University of North Texas.
Earlier today (June 14) the Rock County Sheriff’s Office was able to reveal the identity of the individual. The individual was identified as Delavan resident Carl Junior Isaacs, Jr. He was estimated to be between 15-23 years of age when he passed, and his cause of death has been undetermined.
