According to an update from the Janesville Police Department regarding the June 23 shooting at Bond Park, yesterday detectives received information that 18 year old Dereese Fields, a suspect in the case, was at an apartment in Madison. A search warrant was written by Janesville Detectives and served by the Madison Police Department at an apartment on Tree Lane. During the search warrant, Fields and 18 year old Thomdrecus Ross were taken into custody. The Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit searched the apartment in Madison and seized 2 handguns.
Fields and Ross were transported back to the Janesville Police Department and questioned. Fields was arrested for 1st Degree Reckless Injury While Armed, Prohibited Possession of a Firearm, and Disorderly Conduct While Armed. Ross was arrested on warrants from previous cases for Operating A Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent out of Janesville and for Armed Robbery out of Sun Prairie. Ross was not charged with any crimes relating to the Bond Park shooting. Both Fields and Ross were transported to the Rock County Jail and held on their charges pending their court appearance.
