According to an update from the Janesville Police Department, yesterday at about 3:10 a.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2300 block of Rockport Road for a shot’s fired complaint. The caller, who was on the phone with dispatch reporting a disturbance, was shot at while making the call. The initial disturbance occurred in the driveway of 2317 Rockport Road between a female victim and a male suspect. Both arrived in separate vehicles. The resident heard the disturbance and shouted out to the two arguing. This is when the male suspect in the driveway started shooting.
It was after 7 a.m. yesterday when Officer Katzenmeyer located the female victim of the incident, as she left the initial scene prior to officer arrival. Once she was located she cooperated and spoke with Detective Winiarski regarding the incident. Members of the Janesville Police Department ID Bureau responded to process the scene at the home and later the female victim’s vehicle. The only person injured in the incident was the female victim. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital and released.
All parties have been identified. The female victim and male suspect are known to each other. This is an isolated incident specific to those parties involved. There is no current threat to the community regarding this incident. More information on this story will be given as it becomes available.
