Janesville Police Respond to Saturday Burglaries

According to a press release from the Janesville Police Department, on Saturday at about 3 a.m. officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary alarm at 2601 Morse St. in Janesville. Upon the officer’s arrival on-scene, Rock County Dispatch advised there was another commercial burglary alarm nearby at 2421 Humes Rd. Officers transitioned to the more active alarm at 2421 Humes Rd. and set a perimeter. A team of officers, including a Janesville Police Department K-9 team, made entry to the business and apprehended a 14-year-old juvenile male from Beloit without incident. Officers cleared the rest of the business finding no other persons inside. Forced entry was made at both locations. Physical evidence and surveillance video links the juvenile to both incidents. Both incidents remain under investigation at this time. The juvenile was held in-custody at the Rock County Youth Services Center. He is facing charges including two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal damage to property, and possession of an electric weapon.
