Janesville Police Department Responds to Shots Fired Incidents

According to press releases from the Janesville Police Department, they responded to two shots fired incidents over the weekend.

On May 28 at about 3 a.m. citizens reported shots fired near the 200 block of S. Jackson St. Officers responded to the scene and began checking the area and met with the citizens who reported the incident and other individuals in the area. Officers located shell casings in the area, and one citizen reported their residence was struck by gunfire. Officers also located an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck. No injures have been reported, and officers conducted a search warrant at an apartment in the 200 block of S. Jackson St. where additional evidence from this incident was located.

In a separate incident, on May 29 at about 8:40 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 800 block of E. Memorial Dr. for a shots fired incident. The reporting party said a person was shot outside their residence during a disturbance. Once on scene, officers discovered nobody suffered from a gunshot wound. However, Janesville residents 43 year old Jessica Jackson and 31 year old Sharod Winters were engaged in a verbal altercation. Winters physically attacked another resident of the complex. Edgerton resident 32 year old Kory Fuller arrived at the residence and was physically attacked by Winters. Fuller displayed a handgun and shot one round into the ground. He physically restrained Winters until officers arrived. Winters and Jackson were held at the Rock County Jail, and Fuller was booked and released at the Janesville Police Department. Winters is on probation for battery/threat to judge, prosecutor, or law enforcement officer, strangulation, and disorderly conduct. Jackson is facing a charge of disorderly conduct, and Fuller is facing a charge of disorderly conduct while armed.
