The Janesville Fire Department responded to a reported residential fire in a duplex on Saturday May 6th at 2321 Newman Street in Janesville. According to a press release, the responding units found a bedroom involved in fire with fire venting through a window. The fire was under control quickly. The remaining fire department units searched the home and verified all of the residents had exited the home. One resident was injured while exiting the building. He was treated on scene, but not transported. The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation. The Janesville Fire Department was assisted by The Janesville Police Department, Lakeside Fire Protection District, and Alliant Energy. 18 residents were displaced by the incident. All of the residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
