Janesville Fire Department Trains with Beloit and Madison

According to the City of Janesville, earlier this week the fire department partnered with the Madison and Beloit Fire Department’s to conduct trench rescue training at the Janesville Fire Department’s Art Stearns Training Center. Trench rescues involve the complex extrication of people buried or trapped by earth following the collapse of trenches, typically built during underground construction. When responding to trench rescues, crews must understand soil composition and makeup to implement the proper procedure to stabilize and shore a collapse scene to ensure the safety of rescuers and those trapped. Crews trained on operating procedures for each department and completed multiple rescue evolutions to prepare for real-world situations. For more information on this training, contact the Janesville Fire Department at 608-755-3050.
