Janesville Fire Department Responds to Saturday Residential Fire

According to a press release from the Janesville Fire Department, on Saturday they were dispatched to a residential fire on Garfield Ave. The first arriving units observed a two story single family home with the entire second story involved in fire. The first arriving company advanced an attack line to the second story of the residence, and was able to quickly bring the fire under control. There are 3 adults (2 males, 1 female) that reside in the house, and only the adult female was home at the time of the fire. The adult female was able to escape the fire with her dog, but did receive non-life-threatening injuries in the process. The female was transported to the hospital by JFD paramedic ambulance for further evaluation. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and damage estimates are not yet available. No firefighters were injured while fighting the fire. Units remained on scene for approximately two hours. All of the occupants were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
