Janesville Fire Department Responds to Residential Duplex Fire

According to a press release from the Janesville Fire Department, they responded to a residential fire at a duplex yesterday at about 2:30 p.m. on Black Bridge Rd. Dispatch advised there was one person unaccounted for. On arrival, heavy fire was showing from the garage door and roof, and was extending throughout the attic above both units. Engine 814 began an initial fire attack from the exterior while Engine 821 and Engine 815 conducted rapid primary searches of both residences. The fire was extinguished and searches were completed within 18 minutes of arrival. Two occupants, two dogs, and a cat safely exited the structure. All occupants have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. Two vehicles were also damaged by the fire and deemed a complete loss. One occupant sustained minor injuries while exiting the building. No firefighter injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Janesville Fire Department.
