The Janesville city council continues to discuss new places to allow overnight parking for those people experiencing homelessness. Council members met and talked about moving the parking from Jackson Street municipal lot to the parking areas at Dawson Ball fields or Lions Beach. The jackson Street lot is not ideal because it doesn’t have a bathroom with running water and it’s near the police station which has been a deterrent to many who would take advantage of the lot. The Council has until Sept 30th to decide on a new location or keep the parking at Jackson Street, a community engagement forum will be scheduled in July to discuss all the proposals and get the public's input.
