Finalists Selected for School District of Beloit Superintendent

According to a press release from the School District of Beloit, the Board of Education has identified four candidates as finalists for the position of Superintendent. These individuals will have a final round of interviews on Tuesday, September 27 and Wednesday, September 28. Additionally, the district will host two superintendent candidate community forums to allow for stakeholder input. Parents/Guardians, staff, and community members are invited to participate in the forums which will be held at the Kolak Education Center, 1500 Fourth Street, in the Boardroom and Training Lab, on both Tuesday, September 27 and Wednesday September 28, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on both nights. All stakeholders who participate will be asked to provide feedback on the candidates, and as such must be available for the entire session. All stakeholders can and are invited to submit questions for the superintendent candidate forums.


Questions should be submitted between now and Monday, September 26 through the

School District of Beloit website. To submit a question, access the Board of Education webpage, click on the Superintendent Search icon, and click on submit a question. To comply with hiring guidelines, questions for the superintendent candidate community forums will be selected and read by the moderator of the forums.

Once the final candidate is identified, a contract will be negotiated; including start date, along with other terms and conditions. Once the contract is finalized, the candidate will be brought before the Board of Education Human Resources Committee (a committee of the whole) for formal approval. The date and time of this meeting has not been set. Biographies of each of the candidates can be read below:


Dr. Willie Garrison

Dr. Willie Garrison has served as an educator and educational leader since 2002. His career in education began as a Social Studies teacher at the Milwaukee Public Schools. His work as an educational leader began in 2007 when he served as the Underfill Principal at Clarke Street School and Pulaski High School. Since that time, he has held a variety of leadership positions including Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at Hamilton High School in the Milwaukee Public Schools and Assistant Principal at Wauwatosa East High School. In 2015 he became the Director of Equity, Student and Family Services for the Wauwatosa School District and in 2020 he began his service as the Director of Teaching and Learning for the Brown Deer School District where he continues to serve. Dr. Garrison received his Bachelor of Arts-Secondary Education from Oral Roberts University in 2002, his Master of Education from National Louis University in 2005 and his Doctorate of Education from Concordia University in 2021.


Dr. Brenda Lewis

Dr. Brenda Lewis has served as an educator and educational leader since 2001. Her career in education began as a first grade teacher in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her work as an educational leader began 2004 when she served as an Assistant Principal in Eagan, Minnesota. Since that time, she has held a variety of leadership positions including Principal in Red Wing, Minnesota; the District of Columbia, St. Paul, Minnesota and Hangzhou, China. In 2011 she began her work as Executive Director of Elementary and Secondary Education in Rochester, Minnesota and was named Assistant Superintendent in Rochester in 2013. Other District level leadership experiences include being named in 2019 as the Director of the Office of Curriculum and Instruction in the Montgomery County Public Schools. Since 2021 she has served as Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Dr. Lewis received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2000 from St. Catherine University, her Master of Education from St. Mary’s University in 2004; and her Doctorate of Philosophy Leadership from Capella University in 2009.


Dr. Nita White

Dr. Nita White has served as an educator and educational leader since 2001. Her career began as an Assistant Principal in Schaumburg, Illinois. Since that time, she has also served from 2004-2009 as an Assistant Principal and Principal in Fort Bend Independent School District in Sugar Land, Texas. In 2009 she was named Principal in Elgin, Illinois. In 2015 she began her service as the Assistant Superintendent for Equity and Curriculum for the Freeport School District in Illinois. In 2020 she was named Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in the Valley View School District in Romeoville, Illinois. In 2021 she served as the Director of Human Resources for the Country Club Hills School District in Country Club Hills, Illinois. In 2022 she then began her service as Assistant Superintendent/Principal for the Pembroke School District in Hopkins, Illinois. Dr. White received her Bachelor Degree from Howard University, her Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from the University of Illinois-Chicago and her Doctor of Education in Administration and Leadership from Aurora University.


Dr. Darrell Williams

Dr. Darrell Williams has served as an educator and educational leader since 1993. His career began as a teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools. His work as an educational leader began in 1996 when he served as an Assistant Principal in the Milwaukee Public Schools. Since that time, he has held a variety of leadership positions including Principal and Turn Around Principal in the Milwaukee Public Schools beginning in 2011. In 2015 he was named Assistant Superintendent of the School District of Beloit and from 2017-19 he served as Interim Superintendent in the School District of Beloit. In 2019, he was named State Administrator of the Wisconsin Emergency Management Agency. Other leadership positions include serving as a Major in the United States Army Reserve from 1989-2018 and running for United States Senator in 2021. Dr. Williams received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Rust College in 1993, his Master of Arts Degree from Marian University in 1995, and his Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2007.
