According to an update from the Hoo’s Woods Raptor Center, the eagle nest in downtown Janesville came crashing down late Wednesday afternoon. County wardens contacted Hoo’s Woods and they immediately met them to search for the young eaglet, who was found injured. The nesting tree was presumed to have become oversaturated and the limbs could no longer sustain the heavy weight of the nest. The eaglet is in critical condition with multiple wing fractures, a broken leg, and a concussion. He is unable to stand and needs assistance with feeding. The eaglet is resting at the Hoo’s Woods clinic with no visitors permitted. Hoo's Woods is waiting for results from a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon.
