At last night’s Darien Village Board Meeting, The board heard from the fire commission, who informed that the Darien Fire/EMS department is in the process of possibly buying a new fire truck. There have been discussions with the manufacturer, Ferrara, who is headquartered in Louisiana. Darien bought their ladder truck from them in 2017.
The commission is also responsible for the hiring of the new fire chief, as Justin Schuenke is stepping down from his role in February. The Town and Village are currently pondering the position’s future. There might be some effect on the Village's budget and that is currently being evaluated.
Also needing to be replaced is the Public Works Superintendent position, who is retiring in 2022. The village hopes to have a hiring process in place by late this year.
