According to an update from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, yesterday at about 11:15 p.m. Rock County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a report of a stalled vehicle in the area of S. County Trunk J and E. County Trunk X in Clinton Township. The reporting person advised a white truck was stuck in the ditch near this intersection. Deputies arrived in the area and located a white Ford F250 pickup truck along the roadside, with indicators it had been stuck in the nearby ditch. Additionally, a male subject who appeared asleep was on a fork-lift in the immediate vicinity. The male operator was awoken and it was determined he had been operating the truck just prior. The male had utilized the fork-lift in an attempt to free the truck from the ditch.
The male operator was identified as 62 year old Clinton resident Vernon R. Schmuck. Schmuck displayed signs of impairment, and was ultimately arrested for 6th offense OWI. Schmuck was transported to the Rock County Jail and will be held for Jail Court.
