According to an update from the City of Janesville, they have been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2020. As a part of the Certificate of Achievement program, The City's 2020 report was judged by a panel to meet the high standards of the award. This criterion includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the City's financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
