According to an update from the School District of Beloit, the Beloit Memorial High School Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra received top awards at the 32nd Annual Purdue Jazz Festival. In addition to being recognized as the “Honor Band”, many students received outstanding soloist awards. Guitarist Gabe Wick was named Outstanding Soloist in the large group division, and Kai Wong and Naoki Nikora also received soloist awards and summer music camp scholarships. Miles Wisdom received a Blue Lake Music Camp Scholarship and Outstanding Soloist award in the Second Band category. Students Ben Johnson, Luc Dionne, Sarah Ramsden, Kelechi Anyanwu, Kaleb Daniels, Annette Cortez, Alex Schulte, Kori Burnett, and Norah Saladar all received a soloist certificate for their performance at the festival.
