According to the Beloit Police Department, 45 year old Bernard E. Erwin was taken into custody by police on Sunday in the 1800 block of Shopiere Rd. A community service officer witnessed what he believed to be a battery near W. Grand Ave. and Bluff St. The victim stated she was leaving her apartment and gathering her belongings when Erwin grabbed her, punched her, stole her property and drove away from the scene. Erwin was found at about 11:05 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident for strong armed robbery.
