According to a press release from the Green County Sheriff’s Office, yesterday at about 12:30 p.m. deputies and the Brodhead Police Department responded to the W1000 block of State Highway 11 in the town of Spring Grove for a report of a one-vehicle crash. The vehicle was also reportedly still in the roadway.
Investigation determined the operator, 18 year old Whitewater resident Gabriel M. Garcia, was traveling east on State Highway 11 when he fell asleep. The vehicle traveled across the roadway into the north ditch, striking a mailbox and then re-entered the roadway coming to a rest in the east bound lane.
Garcia and his passenger were not injured and reported wearing their seatbelts. The vehicle sustained moderate damage. There was no airbag deployment, and it was towed from the scene. Garcia was issued a citation for Inattentive Driving and was released with a future court date.
