According to an update from the Whitewater Police Department, they have hired officers Richard Ellis and Anthony Heilberger into the department. The police department has given the following information on each of them:
Richard completed his Bachelor’s degree in Justice and Public Policy at Concordia University. Richard completed training to be a sworn officer at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and passed the Wisconsin reciprocity exam so he will not need to complete the law enforcement academy. Richard has been a dispatcher at WPD since October of 2020 and previously worked as a sworn officer at a federal agency.
Anthony received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice from UW-Whitewater. Anthony is already a certified law enforcement officer, so he will not need to attend the law enforcement academy. Prior to being hired by WPD, Anthony Heilberger worked as a Waukesha County Sheriff’s Deputy, a State of Wisconsin Probation and Parole Agent, and as a Case Manager for Milwaukee Mental Health Associates.
