Thursday Morning Explosion at Construction Company in Eagle

According to multiple sources, this morning shortly before 8 a.m. an explosion occurred at a construction company on Chapman Ln. in Eagle, WI. Everyone within a one mile radius of the facility is expected to shelter in place due to the smoke until at least 5 p.m., and individuals are asked to avoid the area. Students at Eagle Elementary School evacuated to Palmyra-Eagle Middle/High School with the assistance of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. Parents were notified and were able to pick up their students from that building.

At the time of the explosion, 24 individuals were in the building and they have all been accounted for. Fire crews and emergency personnel are expected to be on scene for about 8 hours. No fatalities have been reported, and several individuals were treated on scene and two are at the hospital. One of the individuals at the hospital is a firefighter who was experiencing heat exhaustion. The firefighter is expected to be okay. The other individual at the hospital is an employee of the construction company, who is in a more serious condition.

During the fire, the structure collapsed and trapped a lot of combustible materials inside. So far, almost 400 thousand gallons of water have been used in an attempt to put out the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and multiple agencies within our listening area are assisting. More information will be released as it becomes available.
