At this week’s Delavan Common Council meeting, they approved of a Fire Department Controlled Burn for training purposes on October 22 (or November 12 in case of rain). An old farm house has been donated to the City of Delavan Fire Department to use for this training, on a property located at 8723 Kilkenny Road. The purpose of this training is to provide the technical college students with an overview of fire control and introduces the firefighter to the various fire attack strategies. The lesson also covers considerations for fighting various types of fire situations with proper hose placement techniques of rural fire operations. Students will learn the basics of fire suppression techniques for various types of fire situations. The emphasis is on general tactics and safety within this lesson plan as specified by The Wisconsin Technical College System Fire Training program.
