According to the Beloit Police Department, two individuals were arrested after a traffic stop on Thursday night at about 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Dewey Ave. Officers conducted the stop on a vehicle due to headlights not being on. As officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle. One of the occupants, 21 year old Paris Garrett from Beloit, identified himself using his brother’s name, who had a warrant out for his arrest. While Garrett was being taken into custody, a scale and his photo identification was found and officers determined that there also was a warrant for his arrest. Marijuana was found on him at the Beloit Police Department, and he was ultimately arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of THC, and resisting/obstructing an officer. A firearm was found inside a purse during a search of the vehicle, and the driver, 17 year old Jhannea Nailer from Beloit, was also arrested for receiving a stolen firearm and juvenile in possession of a dangerous weapon.
