The Sharon Police Department has been observing several home improvement signs going up in yards within the village. According to a Facebook post from the police department, they’d like to remind residents all solicitors for these types of projects MUST OBTAIN A SOLICITOR'S PERMIT from the Sharon Police Department. Once that is done, the Police Department will conduct a background check and then vet the contractor/business to ensure they have the correct commercial surety bond per village ordinance. The Police Department will then issue a permit which will be signed by the Chief of Police. This is done to safeguard citizens from the possibility of being scammed-or getting involved with contractor fraud incidents. As a resident of the village, always ask for the rep's village issued solicitor's permit. They have been instructed to carry it on them at all times. If they do not have a permit, please contact the Sharon Police Department so they can ensure they apply for it.
