Just before 2:30, yesterday afternoon (04/30/2023 at about 2:27pm) Town of East Troy officers were dispatched to a residence on Hwy 20 for a suspicious person on the property.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a subject fleeing across a farm field and a motor vehicle on fire. As additional resources were arriving on scene, a Sheriff's Deputy reported a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. That vehicle later was involved in a crash in the county at Hwy 120 and CTH D. It was determined that this vehicle was stolen from a residence on Honey Creek Road.
At some point, another vehicle was stolen, and the Walworth County Sheriff's Office put out an “Attempt to Locate” request on that vehicle. Deputies in Grant County located the vehicle and after a pursuit took the suspect into custody. The case is still being investigated and if any residence has outdoor cameras or video footage, they are encouraged to contact either the Town of East Troy Police or the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.
