Summer School Success For WUSD

During Monday’s WUSD School Board meeting, Superintendent Cassandra Schug updated the Board on the success of the 2021 Summer School program. She noted that while adjustments have been made to the usual model due to Covid-19, a total of 609 students have enrolled this summer. The last enrollment count before the pandemic was 629. Schug claims that the program is just as efficient as it was before the pandemic, with 12 high schoolers completing their credits as of Thursday.

Schug emphasized that in Whitewater, they want Summer School to be fun. To make this happen, changes were made to parts of Whitewater High School to feel more like an elementary classroom. At the mention of this, multiple board members commented on how much their own children are enjoying the experience.
