Suicide at Rock County Jail Under Investigation

According to a press release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, on January 30 at about 3:20 p.m. an inmate in the Rock County jail notified staff that an inmate in another cell needed medical attention. Officers responded to the section and discovered the inmate, a 37 year old man from Evansville, hanging in the cell. The inmate was housed in a cell by himself. Basic life support measures were initiated by jail staff and jail medical staff. Janesville Fire Department paramedics were summoned and provided advanced life support measures. Medical personnel were able to regain a pulse and the inmate was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Yesterday, the Sheriff’s Office was notified the inmate had passed away.
