According to an update from SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville, they have awarded mini grants to the Beloit Learning Academy for the Teen Cuisine Program, GIFTS Men’s Shelter for the Art Therapy Program, and NAMI Rock County to establish a Teen Mental Health Peer Group.
The Teen Cuisine Program through Beloit Learning Academy assists homeless and unaccompanied teenagers in the School District of Beloit, and provides them with education and tools to make healthy choices that positively impact their overall health.
The Art Therapy Program at GIFTS Men’s Shelter will use the grant to create an art therapy program called “Heal.Create.Explore,” helping its residents to express themselves in a positive way.
The Teen Mental Health Peer Group through NAMI Rock County will offer support for youth ages 14-18. The group will meet bi-weekly and be facilitated by two adults.
