School District of Milton Board of Education Approves Children at Risk Support Plan

At the recent School District of Milton Board of Education meeting, they approved the Children At Risk Support Plan. This report is given each year to the district, and shows how they will address the needs of students at risk. This report is to include a plan to decrease the number of students who qualify, under state criteria, of being at risk.


According to the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), children at risk are pupils in grades 5-12 who are dropouts, or qualify in two or more of the following areas:

● One or more years behind their age group in the number of credits attained,

● Two or more years behind their age group in basic skill levels,

● Habitual truants,

● Teen Parents,

● Adjudicated delinquents,

● 8th grade pupils (meeting any of the following)

○ whose score in each subject area on the examination administered (Wisconsin Forward) was below the basic level,

○ who failed the examination under 118.30 (1m)(am) 2

○ who failed to be promoted to the 9th grade.
