School District of Janesville Victim of Ransomware Attack

According to the School District of Janesville, they were a victim of a ransomware attack. On Sunday, their IT Team noticed irregularities in the district’s network. They immediately engaged the State of Wisconsin’s Division of Enterprise Technology Cyber Response Team, and also contacted the FBI and U.S. Department of Homeland Security. No data has been accessed or destroyed, but the attack did prevent use of infinite campus, classlink, and more. School telephones, security cameras, and paging systems were not affected. The district has received a no ‘ransom note’ indicating any demands. The IT team is continuing to work to address the situation, and updates will be given as they are available.
