According to a Rock County Press release, recently the Board of Supervisors approved a resolution establishing a program to provide matching grants to nonprofits and local governments that will encourage local development of programs to help those experiencing homelessness. The program would provide $1 in funding for every $1 spent by nonprofit organizations and local governments with populations less than 8,000 residents, which includes all cities, towns, and villages in Rock County other than the cities of Janesville and Beloit. The program would provide $1 in funding for every $4 spent by the cities of Janesville and Beloit. This program will be managed by the Homelessness Prevention Coordinator position the Board also recently created. Applications for this position are being accepted through Monday, April 11. Interested individuals can apply at https://www.co.rock.wi.us/departments/human-resources. The County Board reserved $3 million in funding from their ARPA allocation to fund this program.
