According to an update from the City of Fort Atkinson regarding the Robert Street Bridge project, the final concrete paving was poured on Saturday, August 27 along with the last sidewalk sections. Stripping forms for the deck and installing railings is continuing. On Monday, asphalt paving was completed. Form removal was completed early this week, and the barges will soon be removed from the river. Today, landscaping, lighting, signage, pavement marking, and site cleanup is planned.
If the weather allows the above work to happen as scheduled, the bridge will be opened late on Wednesday. The pavement markings and signage on Main Street will be restored to return parking to the area on Wednesday evening. There will be some barricades and signage left at the end of each block on Main Street along with message boards alerting motorists of the change.
Temporary traffic signals will be in place at the Riverside and Robert Street intersection until the poles are delivered. There is a manufacturing delay on those items. The signal timing and operation of the intersection will work as usual only with temporary light poles.
