An estimated $202,250 in roadwork was added to the 2021 Streets Program during the Fort Atkinson City Council Meeting on Tuesday night. City Engineer Andy Selle presented the proposal to the Council, noting that the funds had already been acquired, they simply wanted approval to spend it on the projects. Selle stated that the additional roadwork would target roads that are in particularly poor shape, but with good water mains beneath them.
When Council members passed along citizen concerns of smaller roads projects, such as potholes, that had been on the backburner for years, Selle responded that they were already being accounted for. He said that the Streets Program has extra funds and is putting in the effort to become aware of smaller, neglected projects.
The proposal was unanimously approved.
