Regina Dunkin Elected as Beloit City Council President

According to a press release from the City of Beloit, last night the Beloit City Council elected Regina Dunkin as president and Nancy Forbeck as vice president. President Dunkin was the first African American woman to be president of Beloit City Council in 2019 and 2020, and she was re-elected this year. She is the first African American woman to have served as chair of the Wisconsin State Public Defender Board. President Dunkin has also served on the School District of Beloit Board of Education. She is a director on the Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corporation Board and chair of the Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. Vice President Forbeck previously served the community during her career at Visit Beloit and the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce. She was first elected in 2017. The selection of the president and vice president occurred after City Councilors Kevin Day, Markese Terrell, Kevin Leavy, and Dunkin were sworn into office to serve their upcoming two-year term.
