Random Liquor License Checks Sees 5 Rock County Businesses Cited

According to a press release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office, along with Janesville Mobilizing 4 Change, has announced the outcome of random Alcohol Compliance Checks.


The Sheriff's Office says they educate businesses on liquor laws and they have the compliance checks to prevent violations such as selling alcohol to underage individuals. The sheriff's office says these are beneficial to curtailing underage drinking.


Five businesses were determined to have sold or attempted to sell alcohol to underage adults and the staff were issued citations of $452.50. Deputies observed these transactions as part of the compliance check.


Written advance notice was provided to each establishment of upcoming random checks.


The businesses that were not in compliance will meet with individuals assigned by Sheriff Knudson to undergo re-education. The Sheriff's Office said that 26 businesses were in compliance.
