Open Burning Extended in Town of Beloit

According to a press release from the Town of Beloit, by order of the Fire Chief, open burning has been extended for one month. The open burning period will end on May 31. Burning of dry products is to be limited to items such as natural wood and natural wood products and leaves. The burning of treated wood in any form, garbage, food products, paper products, cardboard, manure, plastic, or rubber is prohibited. Burning may only occur between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. All burning must occur at least fifty feet away from all structures and combustible materials. Also, fires must be doused if they generate smoke that may obscure a public roadway, or in another way pose a threat to public safety.
