Milton School Board To Vote on Purchasing Central Park

At the Milton School Board meeting this week, the board discussed a future vote regarding the plan to purchase Central park from the town. The district built tennis courts on the city owned land many years ago, and they are in major need of repair. The Board was shown blueprints of the renovated park that includes the possibility of adding lights in the future, and the return of shot put and discus. The board says they would look for bids in January for a Summer 2022 start time, and that acquiring the park from the City would give the district two parks. Park care would be funded through a tax levy. The district can’t build tennis courts at Schilberg Park because there isn’t enough space. If the city votes to move forward with the purchase, which would be treated as a gift, it would come back to the school board.
