According to an update from the Milton Police Department, on September 13 they were made aware of potentially inappropriate messages taking place between juvenile students and a School District of Milton staff member on a social media app. The investigation initially determined that two juvenile students friend-requested the staff member on the app. One posed as a 22-year-old college student and the other posed as a 20-year-old college student. A small part of the conversations could be considered risqué, but would not be inappropriate if the conversation was happening between two adults. No nude images were exchanged, and no criminal acts were uncovered.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the staff member was having conversations over the app with a third student who attends a different school district. The staff member knew that the third student was a juvenile. Those conversations can be characterized as communication appropriate between adults, but inappropriate between an adult and a juvenile. Despite the inappropriateness, the conversation was not illegal. No nude images were exchanged, and no criminal acts were uncovered. As no crimes were reported or uncovered, the Milton Police Department investigation was closed.
The results of the investigation were shared with the School District of Milton. The Milton Police Department was not involved in any employment decision made by the District. As no criminal acts occurred, and because of the involvement of the juveniles, no additional information will be released by the Milton Police Department.
