Milton Police and Rock County Deputies Respond to Shooting Incident

According to a press release from the Milton Police Department, on August 27 at about 7:40 p.m. the Rock County 911 center received multiple calls regarding a male shooting at a vehicle on Parkview Dr. Milton Police Department Officers and Rock County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded immediately, and found a car and truck parked along the road with two woman and a man present. The man was identified as 25 year old Nathan A. Baumeister, and he was taken into custody and was found to be in the possession of a handgun. Nobody was injured. An investigation of the incident found that a female was driving her car when it became disabled, and she called family for help. The other female was the driver of a truck, and a tow strap was between the two vehicles. Baumeister was pushing the disabled car north on Parkview Drive. The driver of the car was afraid she would rear end the truck, and hit the breaks. Baumeister became angry and went to the driver side of the car and pulled out the handgun. Initially he pointed the gun at the driver, and then shot one round into the back seat. He told officers he did it out of frustration without intent to hurt anybody. Baumeister was arrested and taken to the Rock County Jail, and is charged with 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Intentionally Pointing a Firearm At a Person, Operating a Firearm While Intoxicated, and Disorderly Conduct While Armed.
