Milton Common Council Discusses Perfluoroalkyl in Water System

Last night at the Milton Common Council meeting, they discussed the voluntary sampling of the Milton Water Utility for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkys substances (PFAS). The Wisconsin DNR will partner with Milton to facilitate sampling, communicate results, and support follow-up actions. Milton’s water system is already subject to the requirement of the next Unregulated Contaminants Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5), which requires certain water systems to sample for PFAS and lithium during a 12-month period between 2023 and 2025. Sampling conducted through the Wisconsin DNR voluntary program will not count towards sampling requirements of UCMR 5.
